Sometimes we are quite sure we know where we are going, but God has other plans. 20 years ago, Matthew Leonard was in that boat. I am excited to introduce him to you today as he is one of our speakers for the upcoming Gathering of Catholic Men.
In 1996, Matthew was Protestant missionary, called to lead worship for youth in Mexico. During his time in Mexico, something unexpected happened. It was a time of learning for him…about self, God, and the Church.
Catholicism was all around him. He couldn’t escape the faith, nor its appeal. He began to sneak off to Catholic churches to pray. Matthew came back to the United States, knowing that God was calling him in new a direction in his life.
As he prayed and studied, Matthew felt that God was calling him to become Catholic. He was part of the RCIA program in Steubenville and welcomed into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil in 1998.
Becoming Catholic, was not just a destination but the beginning of an exciting journey. Matthew is a frequent guest on radio and television programs and he hosts a popular podcast on iTunes titled “The Art of Catholic.” Matthew is a featured speaker for Lighthouse Catholic Media and is the Executive Producer and Host of the dynamic Journey Through Scripture video series by the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, where he serves as the Executive Director. He holds a Masters in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Where are you on your journey? Is God doing something new in your life? Come to the next annual Gathering of Catholic Men to hear Matthew give a talk titled, "No Regrets, the Art of Living as a Catholic Man." He’s promised to give us three impactful takeaways on:
