If you attended our 10th Annual Gathering of Catholic Men, you were fortunate to hear a group of very gifted speakers. Each one had a message which resonated for men, like us, on a journey of faith.
Our final speaker was Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers. You now know why he is referred to as the "Dynamic Deacon."
To help you continue on your journey, CMF has arranged for a Men's Group Series using the materials written by Deacon Harold: "Behold the Man." Many of you may have seen or purchased his book at the Gathering.
As Deacon Harold mentioned, he is part of a Men's Fellowship Group. We want to let as many guys as possible have this very valuable experience as well. So we are asking you to "take a test drive." Go to the session of your choice for 5 weeks. If you like it, keep on going or join an existing group or start a new group.
You can participate by going to one of 10 locations in the Diocese, in each of the 4 Vicariates:
Sessions will begin on October 2nd, so sign up ASAP.
Here is a summary describing Deacon Harold's book:
Lucid and inspiring, Behold the Man is a unique exploration of Catholic spirituality for men. Much of the literature written for Catholic men focuses on topical issues such as fatherhood and sexuality. While this book does not exclude these subjects, it is the first to present a comprehensive picture of Catholic male spirituality.
What is authentic male Catholic spirituality? What distinguishes it from Protestant male spirituality? How does masculine spirituality complement feminine spirituality? These questions and many more are answered in this book.
Drawing from Scripture and Church teaching, the author roots Catholic male spirituality in a covenant relationship with God and the cross of Jesus Christ. He demonstrates that when a man embraces the cross he is truly able to be himself—the man that God created and calls him to be. Behold the Man can deepen a man’s experience of Christ and help him to know the Lord more intimately.
I can assure you, this will be a very valuable - perhaps life-changing experience for many of you.
